Vignoble Les Pervenches
The Free Bacchus Story
Les Pervenches has been a vineyard since 1991, and it has belonged to Véronique Hupin and Michael Marler since 2000. It is small, a little over four hectares at Farnham in Quebec, and the couple say every grape and every wine it makes is certified organic and biodynamic. Demeter Canada lists it as certified biodynamic.
The vineyard grows Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Zweigelt and Gewürztraminer alongside Seyval Blanc.

Demeter Canada’s certified list for Quebec is short: five farms, and Les Pervenches is one of only three vineyards among them. The vineyard is closed to visitors for now, and the couple point people instead to the places that pour their wines.
The winemaking is as hands-off as the farming. The wines ferment spontaneously, and are bottled without filtration and without added sulphites, and Hupin and Marler describe themselves as pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in Quebec.
Seyval Chardo, as the name says, puts Seyval Blanc with Chardonnay. The 2025 is pale gold, with pineapple, mango and lightly spiced pear, a citrus tension through the middle and a finish that makes the mouth water.
