Vodka is defined in most markets as a spirit made to be without distinctive character, aroma or taste. It is the only major category on the shelf whose legal identity is an absence, which makes it an unusually demanding place to try to say anything about farming.
Audécious is built on organic sugarcane rather than the more common grain or potato base, distilled in Whistler, British Columbia. The choice of raw material is the substantive decision here: cane spirit carries a rounder texture and a faint sweetness that survives rectification better than most bases, which is precisely the quality a vodka producer interested in origin would be looking for.

We should be transparent about our own position. Our published standard holds vodka to a higher specificity bar than any other category, because organic certification alone tells you something true about a field and very little about a liquid the process is designed to render neutral. What we ask for is a traceable connection between the certified farming and the character in the bottle — and we apply that test to founding houses as strictly as to anyone else, which is the only way the test means anything.

Why it’s remarkable

Audécious was born in Whistler, but sugarcane does not grow in British Columbia. Since the third quarter of 2026 the liquid has been produced in the Netherlands under full EU organic certification — which means the certificate attaches to the place the spirit is actually made rather than to the address on the label. We state it here because we require it of every other producer on this site.

EU organic certification carries a control-body code anyone can look up, rather than a logo anyone can print. This one covers the Dutch production site. The USDA certification held under the previous North American arrangement no longer applies — EU organic certification replaces it, at the place the spirit is now made.

Almost all vodka is distilled from grain or potato. This one is made from organic sugarcane and distilled three times — which is what the descriptions of weight and texture rest on, rather than on filtration or additives.
